LOOKS OF THE WEEK
Wet look mini dresses, three-pieces and the best in emerging knitwear names: Bella Hadid, Iris Law and Kylie Jenner bring the looks in this week’s fashion round-up.
Bella Hadid stepped straight out of the ocean in an ethereal mini dress
There is one outfit that has caused quite a stir on the internet this week, and of course, it comes courtesy of Bella Hadid. Whilst on a sun-soaked holiday, the supermodel has been turning out many a look – including sunset sarongs and cherry red bikinis – but nothing has compared to her white mini dress moment. Boasting a halter neck silhouette and a cropped hem, the dress was simple in premise. But, as the dress was crafted from an illusion-inducing fabric that gave the outfit a gorgeous wet look that clung to Bella’s figure, it quickly became elevated to the ultimate holiday cut. And, what better to pair the dress with than a pair of Yeezy Foam Runners?
Jhené Aiko gave us powder hues and thigh-high splits
This week, Jhené Aiko left her fans speechless as she took to Instagram in a full Lionne look. Comprised of a cropped blue and white shirt, complete with an exaggerated collar, and an elasticated skirt with a higher than thigh-high slit, the look was divine in cut and style. And, in a bid to further captivate, the outfit played with clashing colour and texture as the effortlessly draped powdery yellow bottom piece was met by the intense sky blue hue of the shirt. Masterfully paired and irresistibly skin-baring, this is a look we want to introduce straight into our wardrobe.
Kylie Jenner chose pistachio knitwear courtesy of London’s hottest designer for her birthday ‘fit
By now, we are sure that you are aware that it’s Kylie Jenner’s birthday month. From family-filled dinners to her 24K Kylie Cosmetics collection, the affair has been as extravagant as the beauty mogul herself. But, on the morning of her actual birthday, the reality star turned to one of the brightest stars emerging out of the British fashion scene for a subtle display of hand-crafted knitwear perfection. Draped in a pea-green two-piece designer by Central Saint Martins’ Namita Khade, the outfit was simple upon first look, but after taking a second glance, the deep green bow detailing, subtle beading, lightly frilled hem and deeply ribbed fabric worked to prove why Kylie Jenner is a long-time fan of the emerging designer. Don’t forget the name Namita Khade, because it is one that is set for fashion domination.
Justin Bieber did subtle pinstripes and jewelled jewellery
While Justin Bieber is known for his slightly whacky outfit pairings and fondness of exaggerated silhouettes, this week, the star kept it sleek on Instagram. While still slouchy in fit, the “Peaches” singer’s pinstripe suit and accompanying satin vest, which were washed over in a deep grey colour, were undeniably smart. But, in a bid to ensure that some of his vibrant style was injected into the suave offering, fans were treated to the scenes of their beloved singer wearing a jewel-toned and mushroom adorned necklace. You get a 10/10 for this one, Bibes.
Iris Law invented the three-piece
While the two-piece has become a summer staple for most, Iris Law took to Instagram this week to let everyone know that 2021 is about to become the year of the three-piece. Adorned in an adorable blue and white gingham print, the model sported a maxi skirt, bralette and midriff-hugging piece, which culminated in the deconstructed summer dress of our dreams. Complete with buttons that allowed for swapping of the different components, the outfit also nodded towards a more sustainable future of fashion in which brands hope to offer reusable and deconstructable pieces. We will take one in every colour!
Charli XCX took us to a Heavn filled with plaid and pleats
Marc Jacobs’ Heavn has become a fashion force to be reckoned with. And, thanks to Charli XCX, that is not about to change. Posing for the brand’s Instagram page, the singer tapped into 2021’s obsession with the sickly-sweet punk aesthetic in a plaid mini dress adorned with rigid pleats and a bralette-like neckline. Accompanied by a mini shoulder bag, the look was an ode to this year’s biggest trends and biggest brands.
Khalid kept it colourful in tie-dye pants
In a bid to end this week’s round-up on a colourful note, Khalid is here with a display of vibrant streetwear done correctly. With a pair of yellow, blue and purple tie-dye pants commanding attention, the look instantly becomes a thing of joy. And, upon close inspection, the loud colour palette from the trousers can be seen trickling into the singer’s graphic tee and fresh Nikes, proving that even on his rest days, he can throw together a perfectly paired outfit.
