Inviting us a hazy daydream for her new single is LA-hailed singer Bellamia with “Sixteen Candles”. Playing on the iconic film, the singer melodically details the bittersweet feeling of hitting a new age, using soothing heartfelt vocals and an emotionally charged production. Bringing the story to life with a whimsical visual, the artist opens up on what it really means to celebrate the pinnacle year – from cigarette candles to confetti revolvers.

Sitting comfortably between the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish, the singer maneuvers the soft contemporary pop production with ease, while pulling on inspiration from the industry’s most eccentric characters. Tapping into topics and emotions that are well beyond her years, the 18-year-old proves her ability to convey important messages in her music, using intricate and imaginative lyricism.

Working with Charli XCX favourite Justin Raisen and taking on the spirit of her musical father, Bellamia is set to take her sound to new heights in the coming months, and we’re curious to see what else she’ll have in store for us.
