Otto is serving up all the summer vibes on his new folk-pop single, “Amelia”. Opening with the Welsh singer’s soothing vocals and a soft twanging guitar riff, the track immediately sets a relaxing tone. As the chorus rings in, a sense of euphoria is unleashed, and the track is elevated to a new realm. Putting his songwriting ability at the forefront of the track, it’s clear the artist has been honing in on his skills as he navigates each lyric with ease.

Speaking of what inspired his first single of 2021, the talented musician explained, “‘Amelia’ is the embodiment of freedom. She is the one thing out of reach that you long for. She’s the warmth you need on winter days. She’s the breeze that hits you in the summer haze. She’s everything you’ve wished for that you currently can’t have.” And, there’s no doubt that those themes of freedom, warmth and longing are perfectly captured in the track’s breezy melody and Otto’s wistful tone.

Since releasing his debut EP in 2019, the young Welsh musician has attracted attention from not only tastemakers at BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 but also Eurythmics singer Dave Stewart. Stewart subsequently signed Otto to his label ‘Bay Street Records’ in 2020. Regarding the decision, Stewart said, “Once I delved into the Aladdin’s cave of music he was making in the old post office, I realised he was a true artist. After many chats about creativity and the way in which he worked – playing all the instruments and meticulously recording himself – I was blown away. I just had to continue working with him, which led to signing Otto to Bay Street Records.”
