It would be fair to say that Lil Nas X comes with his controversies, and one that has landed him in particularly hot water is the whole Nike devil shoe situation. The controversy reached a boiling point this week as the rapper and singer posted an array of stories and TikToks regarding his anxiety towards a court case in his legal battle, leading fans to believe that the last thing on his mind would be dropping new music. And, while the average star would shy away from the matter and wait for it to blow over, Lil Nas X has taken the opposite approach, and it has resulted in the uber-sexy “Industry Baby” drop.

Opening up on the scene of Lil Nas being sentenced to 5 years in Montero prison as the triumphant sound of fanfare trumpets begins to blare, anticipation is heightened from the get-go. And, the project doesn’t disappoint. As lyrics about his undeniable success, sexuality and unapologetic approach to the industry ring out, fans can enjoy scenes of a ripped and tattoo-adorned Lil Nas and his fellow inmates serving up sexy dance moves within the prison walls whilst dressed in fluorescent fuschia uniforms. And, as a treat for those who had an issue with his lap dancing and on-stage kissing, Lil Nas proved that he could take things one step further with a fully nude dance routine in the shower.

This is not where the magic of the new track stops, however. With Kanye West producing the track and lyrical flows courtesy of Jack Harlow featuring, it is made all the more spectacular. And, if this is any indication as to what we can expect from his highly-anticipated debut album, it is safe to say it is going to be an iconic project worthy of the name.
