Making their glorious return with a summer-ready track is indie trio Dutch Criminal Record with “Return To Dust”. Delivering soothing guitar strings across a slow-moving drum-led production, the trio consisting of Sam Thrussell, Joe Frampton and Joe Delaney-Stone create a delicate single that effortlessly breathes feel-good vibes. Built upon layers of shimmering guitars and sweet ear ringing percussion, the band wistfully serve up a soundscape that has us reminiscent of early 80s indie-pop.

Speaking on the single, Sam explained, “I wrote it during the first lockdown whilst listening to early Radiohead. It was the first proper ‘love’ song I’d written in years and it’s about the early stages of falling in love and all the confusion and weird feelings it brings. After making a quick demo of the track I emailed it over to Joe who wrote that dreamy guitar riff and added some extra acoustic guitars and keyboard parts.”

Having launched their new record label Novium Records during a pandemic last year, the group have been gaining recognition for aiding local Chichester artists such as Clout, Killing Moon and Rolling Stone India. With an upcoming 5 track EP in the works, we can already see the group dominating this year.
