When it comes to menswear, no one does it quite like Kim Jones. After putting on a stellar display in Paris a few weeks ago with the unveiling of Dior x Travis Scott, the artistic director is back with the release of the Dior Men’s Winter 2021-2022 collection.
Turning to the British artist Peter Doig, the house has swapped out its usual monogram motifs for artful camouflage prints and sketches synonymous with the living figurative painter’s work as formal menswear picks undergo a culture-infused makeover in the new collection. And, with photographer Rafael Pavarotti at the helm of the campaign, Doig’s rudimentary brush strokes are vividly brought to life in a campaign giving a new meaning to the concept of wearable art.
An ode to the brand’s ceremonial foundations, the collection exudes celebratory flair as boxy silhouettes meet reimagined bowler hats, berets and the now-famed saddle bag. Transcending eras with its varying interpretations and inspirations, the collection is not only a tribute to the inventive spirit that lies at the heart of the Dior ethos but also a seamless display of menswear done right.
