With a heatwave coming into full effect this weekend, we’re in need of some fresh tunes to soundtrack our mini-break, and R&B star James Vickery is providing with his serene debut album Song That Made Me Feel. Guiding us through a soul-tinged project filled with buttery vocals and heavenly productions, the singer captures every moment of a relationship – the highs and the lows. Using sensual undertones and sultry rhythms, the singer details each experience like a diary entry, as he explores his search for happiness and true love. Dropping a video for “Save You” today, the artist pulls on inspiration from a tragic event that took place when he was a teenager and reveals that while people may look at it as a love song, it was actually inspired by someone he knew during his school days.
Speaking the release, the artist revealed, “ look up to artists like Nao who has stuck with her sound from day one, and has crafted her own lane. I’m definitely trying to do that myself as a UK Male R&B Singer. I want to cover all bases of R&B and experiment with all the subforms with it, keep people guessing what they can expect from me next- with the one thing that ties it all together, the vocal.”
Already causing quite a stir in the scene for his ability to weave in between genres and create lush R&B-tinged cuts, Vickery is proving himself to be a one to watch and this debut album solidifies it.
