The news of a singer making their debut foray into the world of acting is always wildly exciting. And, from Harry Styles to Rihanna and Lady Gaga, we have been treated to the scenes of some of the biggest pop stars of our time gracing the big screen – some for award-winning performances. Now, in a bid to join some of her most talented peers, pop sensation Dua Lipa has revealed that she will be starring in the spy thriller Argylle.
Set to take a leading role in the currently-plotless action-packed project, this will mark Dua’s debut appearance in a feature film. Promising to be one of at least three spy movies based on the currently-unreleased novels by Ellie Conway, the exciting news seems to mark a new and long-lasting venture for the singer. And, in a bid to remind viewers that she will always remain a musician at heart, the star has also been pegged to contribute to the movie’s original soundtrack.
While the prospect of the “Levitating” singer falling through the plot of a spy movie is thrilling enough, the list of the artist’s co-stars is ensuring that the news is all the more exciting. With director Matthew Vaughn calling on the likes of Henry Cavill, John Cena and Samuel L. Jackson to step into roles in the film, it is fair to say that anticipation is rife.
With filming set to commence in August and 2022 set as the film’s release date, Dua’s fans may be waiting a while for Argylle. But, with this set to be an explosive acting debut for the singer and the promise of a multi-release project hanging in the air, the wait is sure to be worth it.
