The feelings of alienation and isolation have been felt by most, especially these lockdown-filled times we currently find ourselves in. But, hoping to offer comfort and relatability is rising R&B artist Eli Gosling with his deeply emotive track “Alien”. Rudimentary production layered with warped electronic sensibilities contributes to the R&B and electro-pop soundscapes formed on the track, which culminate in a pensive tone being set. When it comes to the lyrics, listeners can hear the artist sing out intimate confessions born out of deep introspection and monotone backing vocals that result in a haunting sound.
“Sometimes, in this big bad crazy world, it feels like there are infinite amounts of people all around you which can make you feel like a complete outcast. Some people will feel completely alienated, almost like they are all alone, floating in space. I wrote this for the people who recognise these feelings, to let them know that there is so much more out there in life, no matter how hard it can feel, always look up,” explains Eli when speaking on the inspiration behind his new track.
With this latest release from the artist following on from the drop of his debut EP, ‘Blue Romance’ and warmly received singles such as “Locked Up” and “Milia Passuum”, his continuing dedication to mastering his craft becomes evident. And with new music on the horizon along with the artist looking to the freedoms of post-lockdown life as inspiration for upcoming projects, listeners can expect more steller electro-pop and R&B offerings from him very soon.
