The Sopranos is about as classic as it gets when it comes to television. HBO‘s 1999 Italian-American mobster drama ran for thrilling 6 seasons and amassed an enormous and loyal following. While it may not be a follow up from the show’s cliff-hanger and slightly enraging ending, the show’s creator and writer David Chase and Lawrence Konner are adhering to the fan’s cries for more as they have been crafting the explosive The Many Saints Of Newark prequel to the hit show. And now, its trailer just dropped.

Stepping into the shoes of the late James Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano character is his son Michael Gandolfini – a surprisingly sweet yet Mafia-like sentiment for a mobster film. But that’s about as far as the emotions go. Set to follow the teen’s rise to the head of the family business, blood, shady cash-filled deals, violence and burning buildings take centre stage as viewers are taken to 70s New Jersey where they learn of Soprano’s unparalleled intelligence and close bond with his infamously dangerous Uncle Dickie. With a tag line that reads “Legends aren’t born. They’re made”, the film promises to unveil Tony Soprano’s transformation from moody teen to callous mafia boss in an intense coming-of-age portrayal.

Streaming on HBO Max and in cinemas on October 1st, this is definitely not one to miss.
