j ember is turning to those relationship questions that we have all found ourselves contemplating with his new track “Dumb”. Filled with queries both interrogative and sorrowful, the singer’s soul-baring plea of “why you gotta treat me like I am dumb?” draws listeners into his intimate rendition as they explore his testing relationship. And, with the artist drenching his track in rock-inspired guitar chords, singular shrill piano notes and a marching drum beat, the song’s unique instrumentation gives life to the lyrics.

“‘Dumb’ means a lot to me, a change in musical direction,” explains the artist. “I wanted to incorporate more instruments and really start building out my live show. It’s a tongue-in-cheek story that reminisces on the subtle fibs and loaded questions in relationships.”

Scenes of mimes chasing the ember fill the track’s music video until watchers see him meet his fate and eventually join the stripe-clad mob, hinting towards the ability for the unspoken aggressions in relationships to become all-consuming. And, with “Dumb” standing as the first display of the artist’s new sound, which is sure to be further established by the release of his upcoming EP “Full Size Render”, brace yourself for more shining displays of indie instrumentation and heartbreak confessions.
