In case you didn’t know, today is June 21 – a day that is meant to mark our long-awaited freedom from these never-ending lockdowns and strict restrictions. But instead, our day is filled with Northern downpours, more talks of further lockdowns and the Monday blues. With all this doom and gloom in the world right now, we’re in need of an escape and Kean Etro provided for his SS22 men’s collection.
Keeping travelling and nomadic explorations at the heart of this collection, the designer set the tone of the collection in the surreal and atmospheric Scalo Farini area in Milan. As the sun rose on the citrus decorated grove, an array of ice cream-coloured shirts with silver accents breezed down the catwalk, carrying a darker muskier tone alongside.
The brand’s signature upholstery-inspired patterns were boldly animated with intertwining patterns and archaic symbols. Angelic golden threads laced embroidered bomber jackets, while messages of optimism enriched trench coats and coupe shirts. Like the final glimpse of a warm exotic sunset, striking ombrés stretched beyond the runway and decorated the show, leaving us with a lasting breathtaking impression that had us dreaming of brighter days.
