For over a year the world has halted to a standstill, with a global pandemic leaving us boxed in our very own four walls. We’re all in need of a little relief and escapism (and rightly so!), and Louis Vuitton has taken this into consideration with every morsel of their Cruise 2022 collection.
Taking us away from the doom and gloom, Nicolas Ghequiére serves up a collection that has us waving goodbye to the past year, proudly entering a new utopia. Filled with bold positive looks, Ghesquiére delivers an edit that sees mini dresses splashed with deconstructed landscapes and intricate tailoring that pushes the boundaries. Themes of joy, optimism and adventure run wild in the collection, with various looks boasting a plethora of sunny hues and serene landscapes. Oversized bell sleeves, huge pockets and ruched skirts were all seen in the show hosted in Paris, alongside futuristic metallic jacquard bomber jackets and silk cape-like blouses.
But as the show continued, we were introduced to a more military space, as regal cadet jackets with gold detailing and nautical sailor-like buttons made a prominent appearance. Understanding that we’ve been deprived of our usual adventures, the designer invites us into his own realm for each outfit and lets us know that anything is possible.
