We have all found ourselves getting lost in the moment whilst enjoying the company of a significant other, and, channelling those exact experiences into his romantic new track “Lost Time” is artist Ross Quinn. Drawing on the all-consuming amorous feelings and romantic endeavours that he has experienced, the London-based artist lends his entrancing vocals to the track as he offers intimate confessions and a look into his love life. And, as a pulsating beat layered with whistling production drives the track forward, an immaculate left-pop soundscape forms, drawing listeners further into the passionate offering.

“When you’re with a special someone, you tend to lose track of time, you’re lost in a space where everything else becomes irrelevant, all worries and life responsibilities go out of the window,” explains the artist when speaking on the song’s inspiration. “It focuses on that space and feeling. But after the pandemic the lyrics “lost time” are something we have all experienced losing these special moments with people we love, it feels like the next year will be making up for all the time we lost!”

Accompanied by a music video showcasing a physical dialogue between two characters, Quinn’s emotive declarations of affection are further relayed to listeners through the medium of dance. And, with this display of left-pop perfection having been hacked from the artist’s newly released EP of the same name, you can now enjoy relatable tracks drenched in the highs and lows of love and lockdown from his new project.

Check out our interview with Ross Quinn below…

Hi Ross, how have you been doing?
Hello! I’m doing good, the sun has definitely perked up my mood, plus I’m so excited to be releasing music again! Although it hasn’t been that long since my last release, I’ve been sitting on this new song for over a year now!

How has the last year been for you? Has it been hard for you to stay creative during the pandemic?
The last year has been so up and down. The lows were super low but the highs have been so rewarding. I think I’ve always been good at covering things up, but with so much time to myself over the year I’ve processed things much better, my anxiety was through the roof towards the end of last year, but getting to understand it and using the time to really work on things was great. It’s been tough but with this came a lot of songwriting, channeling my feelings into my music was how to stay creative I would say. I had a couple of months of struggling to stay creative but figuring out how to turn bad feelings into something productive and positive was a game-changer. I’m looking forward to travelling again, seeing new places and new people, it’ll spark some new music, I can’t wait!

What inspired you to explore music as a career?
It’s never been a conscious decision, I just love music. It’s what I’ve been surrounded by growing up in my family, it’s what I know. So naturally I think I fell into this career path, it’s such an expressive thing to do and being exposed to so many different lanes of music definitely inspired the music I make today!

Would you say that London and the time you spend there influences the music you produce?
100%. My influence growing up will always be there but I do think London has exposed me to different scenes. But mainly I think as a person the city has given me more independence and confidence. With that my music feels more true to myself than ever before!

Congratulations on the release of “Lost Time”! What was the inspiration behind the track?
Thank you! When you’re with a special someone, you tend to lose track of time, you’re lost in a space where everything else becomes irrelevant, all worries and life responsibilities go out of the window. It focuses on that space and feeling. But after the pandemic the lyrics “lost time” are something we have all experienced losing these special moments with people we love, it feels like the next year will be making up for all the time we lost!

The song also comes accompanied by a set of emotion-driven visuals that features very physical choreographed dancing. Where did the idea for the video come from?
I really wanted to be able to capture the special place you find yourself in when you’re with the right person. What better way to express a connection between two people than dance. The dancers Akti and Jonny were amazing, they brought the lyrics to life! I wanted to keep the video fun and light after what felt like the heaviest year. But I’m glad it also hits in an emotionally driven way, my music is all emotionally driven.

You also have your EP of the same name out today. What can listeners expect from the new project?
With this EP I think I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone a little further, my vocal is more forward-facing and present. I’m not hiding behind anything anymore, I’m loving singing and can’t wait to get out there and perform the new songs live! You can still expect an ambient and raw electronic sound, that isn’t going anywhere!

You have amassed an impressive following and millions of streams. How does that make you feel?
It feels great that people are joining me on this journey, it feels pretty wild to have that many people listening, but I’m so grateful! It means so much to speak to people from all over the globe about the music, it truly confuses me and probably always will, but it’s wicked!

What is next for you? Do you have any other projects that you are keen to start working on?
I’ve released 2 EPs now, but never got to play them live so while I get my next singles together, which I’m stoked about, I’m really starting to think about my live show. I dream about touring and playing shows almost every hour of the day. But like everyone else knows, things are so uncertain at the moment. Who knows when this will happen, but I can’t wait for when it does! It’s gonna be a party.
