We’re all about supporting new talent, and emerging pop quartet 5WEST are currently doing it for us. Having amassed over one million TikTok followers and a formidable fan base since their 2019 debut, the group from both Nashville and LA have gone from strength to strength over the past two years, and they’re now back with summer-ready single “Anything Can Happen.” Honing in on their signature smooth pop harmonies, the group serve up an electro-laced fiesta that brims with feel-good energy and eccentric basslines. Remixed by world-class house DJ and producer Benny Benassi, the single instantly captures those thumping club elements and leaves you in sweet ecstasy.

Speaking on the release, member Caleb said, “I’m so excited for this single the process was nothing short of perfect. We all killed our parts and it came together very smoothly!”

The four-piece consisting of Owen Pastore, Jon Paul Nesheiwat, Peet Montzingo and Caleb Duke have already taken the world by storm, with an entry in the Top 30 Singles charts and a new tour in the pipeline. Reflecting on their journey so far, the group get candid on their initial meeting, developing a mature sound and dealing with pressures on social media.

Check out the single and interview below…

Hey guys! We are halfway through 2021, how has it been for you so far?
Caleb: it’s been incredible so far everything is pretty much back to normal and we’re coming in strong!

With everything that happened last year do you think your creativity has been affected?
Peet: Yeah but in a good way! There was just so much more time to do things which bred a lot of creativity.

How did you guys all meet? What sparked the interest in music?
Jon Paul: We met through an auditioning process which our producer Bryan Todd put together. After meeting the guys, I knew this would work out very well, and here we are, strong and loving every second of this journey.

You first took the world by storm in 2019, comparing it to now, how do you think your sound has developed?
Owen: I think our sound has just naturally matured, along with us, over the past two years. As we’ve gotten to know each other better and work more closely with our producer. It’s easier to showcase our strengths and add more layers to our songs

And you’ve just dropped your new single “Anything Can Happen”, talk us through the production process!
Caleb: Yeah I’m so excited for this single the process was nothing short of perfect. We all killed our parts and it came together very smoothly!

It all about the rush and that feeling of freedom, what made you guys want to tap into this theme?
Owen: Well with how everything has been the past year and a half. I think everyone can understand that desire for freedom, and we hoped to bring some of that through in our song.

You guys also have a huge IG following, do you feel pressure to be a certain way or convey a certain message?
Peet: Yes and no. Of course, there’s pressure to post content all the time and maybe there are posts that people don’t like but the trick is to just not think about it and just post authentically because that’s why people followed in the first place!

You worked with some amazing people and performed at the President’s Ball, what’s been your biggest pinch-me moment so far?
Jon Paul: Honestly, the biggest pinch-me moment for me is getting to work with the amazing Benny Benassi. That guy has a great ear for music and every time he touches a track, it comes out so amazing.

Who would you cite as your inspirations?
Owen: I draw a lot from K-pop, specifically Kai from Exo and Chenle from NCT Dream. And growing up I was a huge Panic at the Disco fan.
Peet: Billie Eilish.
Jon Paul: Ed Sheeran and Jon Mayer.
Caleb: Tom Misch, 1975, and Jon Mayer.

What’s next for you? What are you most excited for?
Hopefully, we’ll be back to touring very soon. And really just can’t wait to be back on the road again.
