There are a number of things keeping us on tenterhooks right now: the end of lockdown, Lana Del Rey’s pending new album, and HBO’s Gossip Girl reboot. Luckily, we can scratch one of those of our list, as the trailer for Gossip Girl has just dropped. Having first been teased earlier this year by the streaming giants, HBO are giving us the first glimpse into the new rat pack of the Upper East Side, and it’s looking glamorous.
Promising to deliver the usual sultry shenanigans, but with Snapchat and IG thrown into the mix, the trailer kicks off with It Girl Julien Calloway (Jordan Alexander) introducing newbie Zoya Lott (Whitney Peak) to her trusted circle of friends – who act and behaviour just as outrageous as the original cast. Welcoming Zoya into her perfect life, Calloway then becomes suspicious of the new girl as she seems to be getting a little too close to her boyfriend Otto “Obie” Bergman IV (Eli Brown). With things heating up, for the first time in nine years Gossip Girl makes a return to the scene – as an IG account – and all eyes are on Zoya. Filled with the same intense drama, high fashion social settings and drool-worthy dresses as the original, the reboot is looking to fill the huge boots the 2007 show left, but with more theatrics.
Set to explore how social media runs the newly formed Upper East Side, the show boasts a bunch of newcomers and IG stars including, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Whitney Peak, Jordan Alexander and Savannah Lee Smith.
