It’s been one of the most hyped collaborations since Travis Scott and Nike, and after months of rumours of speculation, Gap’s collaboration with YEEZY is finally here. Almost marking a year since the announcement, GAP X YEEZY have dropped their first piece from the line and it’s already sold out. Or is it? A $200 bright blue nylon puffer jacket was released today in tandem with the YEEZY owner’s 44th birthday, and shoppers were given the option to pre-order the unisex coat, which will be shipped later this year in the autumn. Due to demand, customers may have seen a Sold Out message – but thankfully we’ve been assured, hang tight, the waiting room is open.
The partnership – which is supposed to be a ten-year agreement – is currently valued at an estimated $970 million, and they haven’t even released a full collection. Questions have been raised on when the full line will be on sale and what we can expect, but both West and Gap have been severely tight-lipped on the collab since its announcement. Gap did previously reveal that the collaboration will be under the hitmaker’s creative direction, and will present “modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points”. While some hypebeasts are happy that the duo dropped a piece from the collection, others took to the TL to share their reaction to the jacket and the price.
