It was no secret that Lorde had been keeping her fans waiting when it came to new music. Since her smash studio album Melodrama dropped all the way back in 2017, her followers and music lovers alike have been kept in the dark as to when the queen of pop would make her return. But, after a string of teases including the singer’s feature on the Primavera Sound 2022 lineup and the long-awaited release of her sun-soaked 2021 single “Solar Power“, it seems as though the singer is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to feeding her fans.

Taking to her website yesterday, the New Zealand-born singer dropped three big album reveals. The first, and probably most important, was the release date of Solar Power, which is set to grace streaming platforms on August 20th. Ensuring that anxiously awaiting listeners were not completely in the dark as to what the album will bring, Lorde also dropped the tracklist for the project. Including titles such as “Oceanic Feeling”, “Fallen Fruit” and “Big Star”, it is clear that the project will stand as an ode to nature (especially given that the album will come accompanied by an eco-friendly and discless music box release). And, as if that wasn’t enough, the singer also decided to drop the explosive news that she will be celebrating the release of the project with a world tour. Set to commence in February 2022, Lorde will take to stages across Europe, the UK, New Zealand, Australia and America to offer summery live renditions of her new releases.

“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors,” explains Lorde when speaking on the album. “In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

So, with Lorde’s new album set for an imminent release and the dream of seeing the superstar in the flesh suddenly becoming an attainable reality, it is clear that 2021 and 2022 will be dedicated to Solar Power domination.
