Portuguese singer-songwriter Ana Kohler has proved time and time again that she’s got the chops for superstardom. Whether it’s collaborating with the likes of Alec Benjamin on a woozy rendition of “Let Me Down Slowly”, or even trying her hat at the international production of Disney’s The Lion King, her determination for success never wavered once.

After a period of feeling lost and unheard last year, the singer shares that after much self-reflection, she’s found her voice, and she intends to use it to the best of her ability. Today the star joins us in 2021 with a gorgeous global pop smash titled “Under Your Control”, following up from colossal singles like “Loud”, “Karma is a Bitch” and “Stuck On My Mind”. The tune itself is a classic tropical pop number, spotlighting Kohler’s otherworldly vocal arrangements as they coalesce with punchy beats that dip between the sultry and serene.

In the accompanying video, Kohler can be seen at a fitting by a dressmaker, emerging in a sleek white powersuit as things suddenly get all #SilhouetteChallenge with the lights turning blood red, or donning a fierce Bob Mackie-esque jumpsuit that’s glistening in silver jewels. Entering a totally new stylistic era, the singer welcomes easy-breezy fits, as well as the dark and intense version of herself we all have deep down, usually awakened after two tequila shots. The whole ensemble shows the star taking control of her image, and endeavouring to show us her true self – and let us tell you – we couldn’t be more obsessed.
