We’ve waited a long time for a lot of things: Nicki Minaj to return to music, the highly anticipated Gossip Girl reboot, the end of lockdown. But nothing compares to the WAIT we’ve had to do for Normani’s highly-anticipated debut album. First being teased during the singer’s days among her Fifth Harmony friends, Normani’s solo career was revealed not long after Cabello’s departure from the group in 2016. Catching the attention of RCA exec Tunji Balogun for her onstage confidence, the duo began to work on her solo career full time after the group decided to take an indefinite hiatus in 2018.

But that was almost four years ago, and since then we’ve only had a handful of singles and covers to keep her fans at bay. With the singer gaining more and more attention over the years for her incredible performances and star-studded features, the anticipation has been growing, and finally, Normani revealed last week that the album will be arriving this summer (we hope).

In a recent interview, the singer revealed how the album has been a “long-time coming” and won’t be as “bubblegum” as her previous debut solo single “Motivation”. With rumours of certain collabs and potential features, we rounded up everything we know so far on the upcoming album.

EVERYBODY is hyped for it

From Beyoncé to Cardi B, everyone in the industry has been raving about the project for years, with Queen Bey herself revealing that she was “looking forward” to meeting the star and “she couldn’t wait”. In a cute exchange with the “WAP” rapper, Normani revealed that she has a video on the way for one of her singles that Cardi has heard, and by the looks of it, it is looking juicy.

Its been years in the making for a reason

For Normani, there is literally no going back and having a do-over for her debut album. In an interview back in 2019, the star said that this album will “be an opportunity for the public to be able to get to know me in a way that they haven’t before.”

The tracklist

Due to the fact we have had to wait years for the project, we’d love to receive 100 songs from Normani for the project, but we’ll settle with 14. The singer has dropped a few songs over the years, including smash hit “Motivation” and “Dancing with a Stranger”, but there hasn’t been any word on if they will be included on the project. Teasing a sultry banger in an IG post way back in February, the fans are hoping this will be from the upcoming project as it sounding like a tune for the summer.

From Fifth Harmony reunions to Beyoncé rumours, everyone has been tipped to be a part of the project, but so far, no has been confirmed. With the singer already having collabed with Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Sam Smith, we really think anything can be a possibility for Normani’s debut album.
