With the sunny bank holiday over far too quickly, the Tuesday blues are setting in as we attempt to embrace the work from home lifestyle once more. Well, in a bid to let you relive the joys of the bank holiday weekend from your desk, we have rounded up the best ‘fits to grace the gram over the last week. So, kick back and enjoy retro collars from Chloe Bailey, masterful two-pieces courtesy of Hunter Schafer and more below….
LOOKS OF THE WEEK
Exaggerated retro collars, political statement suits and sleek two-pieces: Chloe Bailey, Lil Nas X and Hunter Schafer head up this week’s fashion round-up.
Lil Nas X made a statement with the help of Mowalola
Kicking this week’s round-up off in style is the one and only Lil Nas X. While there were many moments from his SNL season finale appearance that are worth a mention, including the iconic pants-splitting performance, one that stood out was the singer’s Mowalola suit. Taking from the London-based designer’s Coming for Blood collection, the politically infused white suit finds depth from the glittering bullet hole motifs that lace it. And, with the designer having previously stated that the suit stands as a display of her experience as a Black woman living in the UK, the outfit can be seen as both an immaculate fashion choice and a necessary socio-political comment from Lil Nas X. Also, the added bonus of Anya Taylor-Joy dressed in the leopard print gown of our dreams makes this pic all the more special.
No one does a matching two-piece quite like Hunter Schafer
It wouldn’t be a Looks of the Week round-up without an appearance from Hunter Schafer, would it? For this week’s look, the Euphoria actress and her trusty stylist Law Roach turned to Peter Do’s SS21 collection to prove that cut and silhouette can make or break an outfit. While a pebble grey shirt and thigh-high boots getup doesn’t sound ground-breaking in nature, the shirt’s sleek neckline, concealed placket and the boots square toes elevate the look to one of the best to grace the ‘gram this week.
Sabrina Carpenter took a trip to the Upper East Side
Choosing to embrace a preppy aesthetic with her latest look is Sabrina Carpenter. Donning a black velvet headband and modest collarless blazer with a Louis Vuitton neck wrap for the outfit, the actress offered a contrast in colours with a white ribbed statement belt. Looking as if she had stepped straight out of the streets of Gossip Girl, Sabrina could have definitely given Blake Lively a run for her money.
Backless was best for Lori Harvey
The backless dress trend has been one of the biggest to emerge out of 2021, and, while she has some strong competition, Lori Harvey is in the running for the best display of backless this year. With a modest round neckline and short sleeves, the burnt orange dress gave all of the dramatics with its deep cutout that delicately folded in on itself. It was a truly shining display from Lori this week!
Chloe Bailey made a case for the retro collar
When it came to Chloe Bailey’s latest ‘fit it was all about the exaggerated collar. While her outfit was comprised of a ruched dress that came complete with a plunging neckline worthy of the name and the tan Dior Saddle Bag that has become a staple in the celebrity uniform, the dress’ leather collar was the star of the show as it dramatically extended past the singer’s shoulders in a display of true retro flair.
Kali Uchis did army chic
As summer approaches, we are all preparing to embrace a few daring outfits and Kali Uchis is here to school us on how to do that correctly. Sporting varying army green hues, the singer wore a top with multiple cut-outs that was held together with a metal ring detail in true 00s style. Accompanying the top was an unbuttoned green denim mini skirt with a brown hem and a matching Louis Vuitton bag. Thanks for showing us how a summer ‘fit is done properly, Kali!
Rosalía was a walking ode to the equestrian girls
Rounding off this week’s list is Rosalía with a casual summer ’fit that dreams are made of. Dressed in a mesh long sleeve top and cycling shorts two-piece emblazoned with horse motifs, the singer accessorised with a chunky necklace adorned with neon plastic pendants and matching nails. Both eclectic and random, the ‘fit was fashionably fun.
