The dropping of an official date for the Friends Reunion last week sent us, and the TL, into a huge meltdown. The prospect of a cast reunion by the end of the month was something none of us were prepared for, and, while we may still be recovering from the excitement, things don’t seem to be slowing down. Taking to its Youtube channel last night, HBO Max dropped the official trailer for the TV special, and it was better than we could have imagined.
Setting in on the cast playing the infamous who-knows-who-better quiz game, that saw Rachel and Monica lose their apartment, the nostalgia sets in. And, as we see scenes of table reads, cast cameos and a sit-down interview in front of the unmistakable title scene fountain, the laughter that ensues is reflective of the original show’s nature. Featuring the sitcom’s most iconic looks being modelled by the likes of Cara Delevigne and James Corden playing host, the trailer makes it clear that the 90s show will be catapulted into 2021 in a truly unprecedented form. But, as with any reunion, with the laughter comes a boatload of emotions. And, as the cast reminisce and reflect on their journey through the show, the promise of tears is evident.
