If you are anything like us, you are still trying to process the news that after 2021, Brockhampton will be no more. Fans have been taken on a rollercoaster of emotions over the last few months after the musical collective offered the exciting drop of their new album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, trippy visuals starring Lil Nas X and the promise of more than one album release in 2021. But, paired with the excitement came the sad, and very much unexpected, news that the brand would be parting ways at the end of the year. And, with speculation and theories surrounding the breakup running rife, Kevin Abstract took to Twitter to put all of the rumours to rest.

Reassuring fans that the band still “love each other”, Abstract went on to explain that the split was nothing more than a bid to allow each member of the 13-part collective to invest time into their solo narratives. And, having been together for 10 years, and after dropping some of the most beloved and spoken about hip-hop tracks of the last decade, we are starting to understand their desire to take a breather and focus on other projects – however sad we may secretly be about it.

It is not all doom and gloom, however! Along with the emotional tweet came the confirmation that, despite some sampling issues, their project technical difficulties is set to be released by the end of the year along with the band’s highly-anticipated farewell album. So, while the end of Brockhampton is nearing, we can all take comfort in knowing that it is all love between the boys and that some of their best work is set to be released over the next few months.
