It’s currently just over a month until we can feel the thumping bass lines rumbling beneath our feet and the pulsating neon lights illuminating the dance floor. And while we are meticulously counting down the hours, days and seconds, renowned DJ and founding member of trio Disciples, Duvall, is getting us in the mood with his sure-fire anthem “Every Song”. Tying together newcomer bshp’s vocals with a feel-good dance floor rhythm, the producer creates a fiesta of house-pop music using his innate musicality and talent. Using ear-ringing melodies and euphoric vocals, Duvall’s latest dance floor-filler is drenched in contemporary pop sensibilities and has us dreaming of post-lockdown.

Speaking on the single and working with the singer, the producer revealed, “bshp is a once in a lifetime artist, her voice reminds me of the greats already. As a producer, you always hope to meet a perfect talent like bshp. It’s becoming harder and harder to find as years go on. I have no doubt she will be the next big superstar, So I had to sign her to my management company OUTCRY.”

Ready to take over the pop scene in the coming months with more new music, we sat down with Duvall, talking about his early days with Disciples, dream collaborations and how the single actually came about a year ago…

Check out the single and interview below now…

Hey Duvall! How has this past year been for you? What is one thing you’ve learn about yourself?
The past year has been amazing, I learned how to care more for other people, I took time to learn about the injustices in the world and what I can do to effect change, and I learned that we can do amazing things in a short space of time if we wanted to.

How did you first get into music? What is your earliest memory?
My earliest memory of music was mum and Dad playing Motown and Reggae in the house, My dad worked at a radio station in London and I remember running to the record shop round the corner to find records people had phoned in to request. I actually didn’t start making music till my late teens though, I was too into chasing girls.

You’re the founding member of producer trio Disciples, how did you get everyone together and what sparked the interest?
I started Disciples because I wanted to make music my own way without being told by an A&R what to make or what they think it should sound like. Disciples was born through frustration. Gavin and Luke felt exactly the same way so when we came together it was easy. We have different tastes which is what sparked the interest. If we all had the same taste in music, I don’t believe we would be together.

Congratulations on you new single with bshp, take us through the production process how did you meet them?
The question was, how do we make a heartbreak record feel uplifting and danceable at the same time? I feel production should always accompany the song rather than the other way round. In this production we purposefully stay on the same chord for as long a possible before releasing the full chord structure. this builds natural tension in the song. bshp is a once in a lifetime artist, her voice reminds me of the greats already. As a producer, you always hope to meet a perfect talent like bshp. It’s becoming harder and harder to find as years go on. I have no doubt she will be the next big superstar, So I had to sign her to my Management company OUTCRY.

It such a party vibe single! What is it like releasing club vibe music during such difficult times?
This song was supposed to come out over a year ago, but it didn’t feel right because of what was going on in the world so we pushed back. Now feels like the right time, everyone is ready to see each other again, to travel and explore the world again, music is the soundtrack to all of that.

You’ve collaborated with some cool people over the years, who would you love to do a song with next?
I’d love to work with Diplo and Pharrell, I don’t know if that will happen next but it’s a huge goal of mine.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Just from living life, listening to people tell stories, listening to different music, not just the stuff we hear on the radio.

What’s next for you? What are you most excited about?
I’m most excited to see what I’m going to do next because I don’t even know lol. I’m taking it one song and one collaboration at a time.
