Pondering the innate humanness of us all is singer-songwriter Gatton with his EP “juvenescent”. The intimate 4-track offering is a stripped-back acoustic display in which trickling piano keys and the steady strums of acoustic guitars stand as the backing for Gatton’s angelic and varying vocals. While the sounds of the EP are melodic and emotion-invoking in nature, the lyrics are what lies at its heart. Offering a deep analysis of human emotions and relationships, the tracks promise to touch on something personal within each listener, all the while standing as soul-baring confessions from the singer.

“‘juvenescent’ highlights what relationships look like with unclaimed baggage,” explains Gatton. “Relationships seem to magnify what you’ve yet to heal. The healing can be beautiful. The healing can be agonising. But if you can learn to ‘grow from every wave,’ it can be breathtaking. After all, forgiveness is accepting that the past will never be any different.”

With the EP boasting a cover of Kacey Musgraves’ “rainbow” and the spoken word track “an observation on adulthood”, the singer offers a range and depth that is rare within many musical projects. And, with each track incorporating a blend of intense emotional analysis and impeccable musical talent, it can be said with confidence that “juvenescent” is a truly unique offering, one that sets Gatton apart from anyone else in the industry.
