BRXTN Studios is set to crown the winner of their Brixton Voices competition this Thursday.
This week marks the finale of BRXTN Studios’ Brixton Voices competition, a search for south London’s next big musical talent.
The competition marks the opening of a brand new recording studio inside the Grade-II listed marketplace, Brixton Village, which is kitted with all the bells and whistles to make some proper good tunes. Karl Lokko, Creative Lead at BRXTN Studios said of the event: “Almost everyone should be able to appreciate just how big a deal this is. Being awarded 50 hours in a state-of-the-art studio in itself is aspiration correlating with resources. The winner has entered a symmetry that could potentially change their lives forever.”
Brixton Voices was open to all applicants living in the borough of Lambeth, calling on singers, rappers, poets and producers alike to share their talent with the world in a celebration of the historical diversity and creativity of Brixton. And with the finalists being selected earlier this month, the finale itself will take place this Thursday (May 20th) at 7pm in the studio itself, with Harry Pinero and Rachael Anson kicking off the official live stream over on the studios’ Instagram.
Ahead of the final verdict, Grammy-nominated songwriter Ruth Anne Cunningham (Britney Spears, Professor Green, John Legend) will be mentoring each of the finalists by way of a killer songwriting masterclass this Tuesday. Who knows, they could each be penning the UK’s next mega-smash hit as we know it.
We hope the finalists are resting up their vocals for the occasion, because we’ll be watching with eager eyes (and ears!) to see who’s crowned the winner in what’s sure to be a night to remember. How chuffing exciting!
