Much like the track’s title, producer Goddard’s latest Drum & Bass offering “Nicotine” is truly addictive. Drawing on the classic sounds of the genre, the track boasts a throbbing bass and chaotic flashes of instrumentation as raw vocals ring out the lyrics “would you be my nicotine?” In a bid to offer contrast, juxtaposed blocks of stripped-back sound allow for the lyrics to be highlighted, all the while hinting towards an ever-looming beat drop.

Accompanying the producer’s infectious tracks is a set of newly-released visuals. Exuding youthful energy and the carefree vibes of adolescence, the video takes us on a journey through a mini-revolution that is set against an urban landscape. Featuring a band of young adults donning masks and flare sticks, the smoky video pays homage to the will of a younger generation, which is only emphasised by the presence of Goddard’s sound.

Having made his musical beginnings in the electronic duo age, Goddard is no stranger to the industry. And, with his blended sounds of production-heavy beats and selectively picked vocals resonating with fans and industry institutions such as BBC Radio 1, it is clear that he is on a successful mission to bring Drum & Bass back to the forefront of music.
