It is safe to say that we were all thoroughly disappointed when we heard that the Lizzie McGuire reboot had been scrapped – seriously, the thought of Hilary Duff returning to our screens was singlehandedly getting us through the pandemic. While it may not be our Disney Channel dreams coming to life, the actress is making an acting comeback in the form of another beloved TV reboot.
To everyone’s surprise, Hulu has announced that the hit show How I Met Your Mother is getting a spin-off. Titled How I Met Your Father, the show follows Sophie (Duff) as she embarks on a journey to explain to her children the story of how she met their father. Set to feature a band of tight-knit friends and take place during the year 2021 – we are wondering if we are going to be offered any pandemic-inspired one-liners. The vague details we have been given have recognisable references to the original show – which saw the likes of Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris navigate love, friendship and the pains of adulthood.
With Duff also pegged to produce the show – which will also see How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas join as executive producers – this reboot holds the promise of big laughs and a dose of nostalgia as we re-enter the world of Ted Mosby and Robin Scherbatsky. And, while a release date, cast list or solid plotline are currently missing, we cannot wait to find out more.
