Let’s be real. The only reason we got through 2020 was because of Sally Rooney’s critically-acclaimed novel and the BBC adaption that followed of Normal People with Summer cover star Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Dubbed as the first great millennial novelist, the author behind the series has announced that she has a third book in the pipeline titled Beautiful World, Where Are You and is set for release September 7th. And, with new images of the book’s cover being unveiled by publishing house Faber yesterday – which has been designed by Jon Gray and features bold illustrations by Manshen Lo – we are one step closer to the highly-anticipated release of the novel.

Now we know what you’re wondering, how could Rooney possibly top Conversations With Friends and Normal People? It will be a challenge – but the new book is already giving us Rooney’s usual high-minded issues and gripping storyline as publisher Alex Bowler at Faber who acquired the title as part of a two-booked deal, called it, “a book of friendship and sex, art and faith, power and love. It absorbs you once again in the inner lives of character with brilliant minds and aching hearts while marking the next creative leap from a singular writer. The book scintillates with intelligence empathy and yes, beauty.”

With news of the book release, a dedicated website popped up and provided a brief synopsis: “Alice, a novelist, meets Felix, who works in a warehouse, and asks him if he’d like to travel to Rome with her. In Dublin, her best friend Eileen is getting over a break-up and slips back into flirting with Simon, a man she has known since childhood. Alice, Felix, Eileen and Simon are still young – but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. They have sex, they worry about sex, they worry about their friendships and the world they live in. Are they standing in the last lighted room before the darkness, bearing witness too something? Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?”
