If you’re a fan of movie stills, tumblr-esque visuals and harrowing portrayals of love in the 21st century, Sarah Bahbah will be right up your street. You might’ve already come across her dreamy snaps, characterised by their witty subtitles and famous faces, but with her latest project, the 29-year-old Palestinian-Australian artist is embarking on a new journey – one that’s chock-full of self-reflection and wisdom.
“‘Fool Me Twice’ is an admittance of shared responsibility and a promise to myself for growth,” she tells writer Vera Papisova of the project, which was shot around The Brick Manor, an imposing yet utterly romantic French Mansion in LA’s San Fernando Valley, over the past few months.

She’s enlisted the help of Netflix stars Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why) and Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) to tell her story too, capturing the pair in their palatial surroundings as star-crossed lovers, in teary-eyed turmoil, or even in a masked-up loving embrace on a dusky beach – it is a reflection of our times after all.
“[In the past], I fooled myself over and over again,” says Bahbah of the importance of accountability in order to progress in life, “Now, I am releasing my heartache and confronting my behavior.” Perhaps if accountability always looked this picturesque, we’d all be a little more aware of our flaws…
‘Fool me Twice’ by Sarah Bahbah is a new photography series supported by WePresent, WeTransfer’s editorial platform telling unexpected stories about creativity from around the world to 4m monthly readers in 190 countries.
