Agnes Azria is here to help us find all the beauty life has to offer. For as long as she can remember, the LA-based musician been pulling inspiration from her immediate surroundings, penning genre-defying hits on women’s rights, sexuality, immigration and mental health that are wrapped in layers upon layers of woozy guitars and heavenly vocal arrangements. After concocting last year’s mesmeric Overthinker EP, Azria is back this Friday with the second offering from her forthcoming sophomore effort – KEEP IT SIMPLE.

The projects premiere funk-driven slow burner, also known as “daydreams”, was born out of Azria’s constant tendency to fade into her thoughts. “I pull back into my own trance so often that I sometimes think, ‘could daydreaming be problematic?’” she singer explains, “but, for me, it is meditative and I find it a healthy form of escapism to help manage the stresses of life.” Escaping into a not so distant reality, Azria can navigate her dream world in peace, imagining only the best of outcomes for the curveballs life throws at us.

These feelings of catharsis spill over into the track’s video, in which we are given a glimpse into the vibrant yet hazy mind of Azria. Juxtaposed against the bleak, colourless surroundings, the singer dreams of the beach, of bright pink lips, of beautiful blue oceans and sharp sandy cliffs. To be honest, we’d quite like to take a trip into the singer’s conscious too, but for now, we can only dream of living in such a paradise.
