We don’t talk enough about transportive music. The type that moves the molecules in a room, heats up the air, drops the shoulders and incites an involuntary sway in the body; that’s just how smooth it is. Saint Joshua is a master of such music: his trickling velvet vocals stretching like an elastic band, soaring to the most hair-raising highs and dipping to the most sensual lows. And now, prepare to fall fully enveloped into his world with intoxicating debut single “I Like” – which track those early throes of a new romance, where every waking moment is bliss. Every interaction, electric.

Exploring themes of love, romance and existentialism, the south London-based artist has been making waves with his soulful brand of R&B, impressive vocal prowess and hypnotic storytelling, using the last two years to independently develop his writing, production and recording skills to launch his music.

“The song is about the initial feelings of meeting someone new, where the connection is almost too good to be true,” Joshua explains of the track. “Too early to call it love, so it’s like. The song is inspired by not only my previous relationships but my short stint online dating last year and the great failed connections I’ve had.”

“I Like” marks the first single taken from the rising star’s forthcoming seven-track EP – which will no doubt be a showcase for his signature sonic identity – cinematic in feel, and one that enriches all the senses. Watch this space.
