2020 took a lot of things from us, and saw the music industry suffering a huge hit, with artists, events and beloved venues scrambling to find new and unique ways to connect with the world, especially at a time when it has been so easy to feel disconnected.
One such example: last year, and for the first time in more than 250 years, St. Patrick’s Day – a global cultural celebration of revelry and merriment – was cancelled all over the world, with 2021 sadly following suit again. Thankfully, Jameson Irish Whiskey are ensuring that the day will still be one of celebration and music, as the legendary distillery are partnering with long-time collaborator of the brand, Jessie Reyez, to host an intimate virtual gig.
Live-streamed via the Jameson Connects platform and into homes across the globe on Wednesday 17 March, the exclusive show will see the Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist perform tracks from her critically-acclaimed debut album – Before Love Came to Kill Us, as well as platforming a host of emerging talent from her native city Toronto, as well as Dublin, the home of St Patrick’s Day.
Fans will be transported on a virtual journey to both vibrant cities, spotlighting the heart of the hometowns and communities. Jameson hopes to underline the powerful message that while we’re all missing our loved ones, live music and connection, they hope this St Patrick’s Day can still offer a chance for friends all over the world to come together and celebrate with a little Irish spirit, no matter where they are – and remind ourselves that good times are coming.
