It’s begun. Freedom is officially in sight. The days are getting balmier and the prospect of the hedonistic summer we deserve is becoming more and more concrete. And one artist who is here with the dance floor-ready tunes is Texas native Billy Vena, with a funk-filled tune that is begging for air-time at your reunion afters.

A fresh-to-death exploration of sexual awakening and being comfortable with whatever the fallout may be, “Rabbit Hole (love is what you make it)” is equal parts slick R&B rhythms, irresistibly smooth Prince-esque vocals and an 80s groove-laden melody.

“‘Rabbit Hole’ is about a sexual awakening and how confusing it can be when you realise it’s happening,” explains Vena. “I wasn’t necessarily writing about my teenage rejections but my teenage regrets and how the back and forths in my head, kept me in a “what if” scenario till this day. We may never know what the other person truly feels but maybe love is what you make it.”

“Rabbit Hole (love is what you make it)” marks the first release of 2021 from the Panama native (now based in Converse, Texas), who made his glimmering debut last year with body-moving bops “Space Hippie”, “Disco Maniac” and “Talking 2 Myself”. Expect big things to follow this year.
