Kayls is the kind of fearless singer who can’t stop and won’t stop speaking her mind. Known for her raw and honest lyricism and heavy-hitting sound, her latest confessional alt-pop offering “Standing” is no exception.
Set to synth-laden beats and sensual vocals, it takes us on a lyrical journey through the ups and downs of a whirlwind relationship with a past lover – but this one’s no ordinary ex, he’s also a self-taught rocket scientist and the richest person in the world.
“The whole relationship was a bunch of huh’s for me,” Kayls divulged. “Elon had the night sky painted on his ceiling and he was staring at it one evening… and was like do you like this? I was just like uh yeah sure, I honestly didn’t really care. And he was like well we can change it if you want. It was kind of like he was powerful enough to change the night sky, which he is sort of doing. With that much money, your bed has to be really really comfortable for when you’re crying yourself to sleep, and you need people around all the time so you’re not lonely, but you’re kind of lonelier than everyone else. It’s like your loneliness score goes up the more money you have.”
Created with Bambor Leany, the female-centric anthem does more than shine a light on a past relationship – it also paves the way for more female producers in the music industry. “I knew Bambor Leany was a genius when I met her,” Kayls expressed. “The songs we are making feel revolutionary for female pop music.” Her goal? To become the first female-produced songwriter to top the charts. And we’ve no doubt she’s gonna make it.
