PALM ANGELS SS21

The skate brand invite the visionary minds of David Sims and Lea Colombo to interpret their SS21 Collection.

How do you present the intangible beauty of your latest collection to an audience of doom-scrollers? It’s simple, you partner up with Rizzoli for a limited-edition book zine and invite a host of the industry’s most experimental image-makers to figure out the rest.

This is the philosophy behind Palm Angels’ SS21 collection, inspired by creative chaos, a worldwide longing for escapism, and the unexpected possibilities of creative collaboration. On the latter, the brand’s founder Francesco Ragazzi has enlisted the help of David Sims, Rosie Marks, Lea Colombo and Enzo Ragazzin to curate their own interpretations of his work. Artists such as Thrush Holmes may see fit to splash such ruminations on a colourful canvas, while Javier Jaén could interpret things through the lens of an archival photomontage moment – the world is their oyster.

The collection also takes inspiration from the tropical oasis that is Jamaica – as pointed out in a press release – the place furthest from the Palm Angels HQ in Milan. From Rasta colour palettes to the Palm Angels Records patches that adorn vests and jackets, a celebration of colour and vibrancy rules the roost, and relaxed tailoring of course. Thick patterns of plaid also pepper the mix, in baggy trousers and large pleated skirts, paired with tees and sweats baring palm tree motifs that will lift our spirits and make us yearn for sunnier days to come. Anyone need a holiday after this?
