Proving that her swing from screen to song three years ago was more than a fleeting experiment is Stargirl’s Meg DeLacy with her confident new single “Body”. Brimming with sensual energy and tied together with sultry lyricism, it’s the kind of single that screams: “I’m here to stay.”

Pounding pop beats and R&B-tinged melodies build to a vocal-forward chorus, in which the singer-songwriter lusts after her irresistible love interest: “You sitting here close enough to touch my body / What are we thinking (good now) / Let me hear you say you wanna touch my body / Tell me what you thinking, tell me right now.” If this song were a colour it would be red: raw and seductive.

“It’s about the simplicity of our skin creating warmth and longing for that person who gives you lust,” Meg explained, on the inspiration behind the track. “This song plays with that sexual desire we all have, whether that be receiving love, making love or seeking love. Personally, this song reminds me of the shame that also comes with fantasizing about an unrequited love.”

And the stripped-back visuals are just as sensual as the track itself. Strips of sunlight leak through the windows blinds – dropped down in a mission to shut out the outside world. It’s just us, Meg, and the guy who’s living rent-free inside her head.
