With a catchy ear-worm refrain, Cardi kicks off the video with a much-needed funeral for 2020 before launching into the scenes of an X-rated Little Mermaid shell and a TikTok-ready dance routine. From vibrators to tongue-locking and a wig full of talking barbie doll heads, the video is a bag of horniness with the rapper staging as a dreamy car bonnet mascot and while channelling Patrick Maguad’s Exhibition in Paris for the opening scene.
Rapping about her sexual conquests and immense wealth, Ms Belcalis Almanzar throws all the shade at the girls who can’t keep up, with lyrics like, “if I had a dick, you’d probably lick it like a lollipop / hoes speakin’ cap-enese, hit ‘em with karate chop.”
In the YouTube Livestream before the video premiere, Cardi said she wanted the track to be more “hood,” as her last one “WAP” with fellow rapper Meg Thee Stallion was “too sexy”. She adds: “I wanted to do something more gangsta, more cocky”.
