“For me, it is quite simple. I love what I do and I want to get better at it as time goes on… Every job I do, I meet new people who have more advice to give and I learn something new. I do this because I love it, and there is nothing else in it.”
Covering our Spring 2021 issue, Danny Griffin is riding the wave of his breakout role in Netflix’s new magical series Fate: The Winx Saga — but the 23-year-old isn’t fussed about a rapid rise to fame. Having spent the recent lockdown learning a host of new skills whilst isolating with his grandparents (from downloading the MasterClass app to Gordon Ramsey’s cooking classes), Griffin makes clear he’s someone who’s always open to new experiences, and it’s this that has lead his career choices so far. Taking us from his formative years in Cornwall to his time filming The Winx Saga in Ireland, the actor reflects on everything from his role in the show and his love for sci-fi, to the best advice he’s ever received and one standout compliment from Hugh Grant.
