It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The Spanish queen and the young pop-phenomenon have finally dropped their long-awaited collaborative song, “Lo Vas A Olvidar”. The pair have been hyping us up about this release since March 2019, when Rosalía first revealed that they were joining forces. It might have been a long time coming – but it was well worth the wait.
Filled synth-laden beats and melancholic lyricism, this ethereal ballad marks a departure from both pop artists’ more energetic releases over the last year. Eilish’s unique tones and Rosalía tumbling vocals wrap around each other in dreamy harmony for the chorus, which oscillates effortlessly between Spanish and English: “¿Lo vas a olvidar? Can you let it go? Can you let it go?”.
The Nabil-directed music video visually encapsulates the song’s hypnotic allure. Placed against a dark, hazy backdrop, the cameras orbit around Eilish and Rosalía who sing amid streaming lights. Wearing matching sculptural manicures, their hands dance across their faces with dramatic effect.
Preluding the premiere of her new documentary The World’s A Little Blurry, this Rosalía-collaboration marks Eilish’s first musical outing of 2021, and follows the arrival last year’s flippantly bold single, “Therefore I Am”.
