London Grammar – “Lose Your Head”

Just the antidote for any lockdown blues or grey sky-induced misery you might be feeling this Friday, London Grammar’s pastel-tinged epic “Lose Your Head” has us feeling all kinds of ways. Co-produced by George FitzGerald (Lil Silva, Katy B), the track is the third offering from the trio’s forthcoming studio album Californian Soil. It seems awfully fitting that a decade on from their explosive domination of the UK charts, London Grammar would still be on our lips, lighting up an already chaotic new Year – cheers guys!

Unknown T – “WW2”

Homerton’s most famous export (other than Wonderlist favourite Ivorian Doll) is another artist coming into 2021 stronger than ever. “WW2” sees Unknown T at his most unrelenting, delivering flows upon flows over cold beats and military-esque visuals. Catch T slinging snipers clad in a Prada puffer, cruising London in a drop-top, and even busting out the T Bop for your viewing pleasure.

Taylor Swift – “It’s Time To Go”

If you dictionary searched ‘starting the new year right’, we’re sure there’d be something in there about streaming Taylor Swift. Having given us (nearly) an entire month to stew on her latest album, surprise released mid-December, we’re once again diving back into Swiftie territory for Evermore’s two bonus tracks. “It’s Time To Go” is our favourite of the two, capturing that sweet spot between nostalgia and melancholy that comes with returning home and remembering your roots. Can you tell this was the soundtrack of our Christmas holidays?

Saweetie – “Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat)”

Touted the duo we never thought we needed (by us, LOL!) Saweetie and Doja Cat team up for the first major rap girl moment of the year, aside from Nicki Minaj doing a FENDI-certified baby reveal. There’s fashion, strip clubs and sugary sweet hooks for us to devour as the two cruise through green-screened streets in a rhinestone sportscar. London Uber drivers could never! Our only gripe? The brazen Dr. L*ke production…

ZAYN – “VIBEZ”

Either you get the vibes, or you don’t get the vibes. Former One Direction frontman and new father Zayn Malik absolutely does, defying any doubts by literally putting it into song. On his latest track, fans can rest assured that Zayn’s signature woozy beats and laidback sound are still well intact for 2021, they’re actually given a spruce of vibrancy betwixt twinkly synths and punchy layers of the singer’s lush vocals. Wherever this new era is going, it’s definitely looking promising.

Charlotte Lawrence – “Talk You Down”

UK pop’s underrated force of nature Charlotte Lawrence is staking her claim on 2021 with her sublime new single “Talk You Down”. The stripped back track is pop at it’s most intrinsic, combining Lawrence’s deep yet agonisingly soft vocals with murky synths and sweet piano chords – the DIY Blair Witch visuals are also a great touch, we must say. Here’s to more greatness from this star-on-the-rise in the coming months…
