In the midst of another lockdown and a particularly brutal winter, there is no time like the present to remind yourself that music has now – and always been – our saviour. And here to provide us with the much-needed reassurance that better times are on the way are south London dance behemoths Disciples with their brand new track “I Got You”. And in tow: their sun-soaked, summery music video. Take us back.

Bubbling tropical steel pans open the scintillating offering, which deals in a heady production, undulating melodies, and a bassline so pounding our eyes are practically rolled back visualising the crammed, sweaty dancefloor at its command.

And the visuals depict the all-too-relatable eternal summer that follows those first throes of romance, and the ensuing confusion and heartbreak. Ah, young love.

“We don’t like dance videos,” explains Disciples. “They normally feel generic and played out but when the director came up with this idea of a movie trailer for a coming-of-age story set in LA, we thought it was genius. We want the viewer to escape from what’s going on in the world just for a moment. Watching the trailer unfold makes you want to see the full movie.”

If “I Got You” is anything to go by, it’s set to be a big year for the production trio – comprised of Nathan Vincent Duvall, Gavin Koolmon, and Luke McDermott – who have carved out a distinctive niche with their addictive house, R&B, hip-hop fusion.
