Take a hike! It’s all about nostalgic 70s campingcore with Alessandro Michele’s vibrant collaboration with the iconic outdoor brand.
The air is alpine and crisp. A sharp inhale takes in the smoky aroma of campfire, and ears prick at the comforting buzz of friends clumsily erecting tents all around. While it might feel like we’re a world away from matey group shenanigans right now, Alessandro Michele has evoked an outdoor utopia of mammoth proportions with Gucci’s latest collaboration with The North Face – and tbh, it’s truly the next best thing right now.
Shot through a hazy 70s-style lens by legendary photographer Daniel Shea, the candid campaign imagery depicts verdant forests and the breathtaking peaks of the Alps wherein our happy campers champion the spirit of exploration and adventure with a nostalgic twist.
Bringing together the pioneering spirit of the Italian luxury house and the iconic outdoor brand, it evokes what it would be like to pitch up mountainside with Harry Styles while wearing lush Gucci garms punctuated with a street style twist.
Think midi puffer skirts and dungaree dresses in printed retro mustard or emerald green; revellers huddle in the warmth of unexpected pieces linked to the outdoor world of The North Face, such as tents and sleeping bags; toggled backpacks sturdy enough for more bitter climates are emblazoned with a fusion of the Gucci and The North Face logos. And as is the Gucci way, expect wacky florals abound, littering everything from goose-feather down padded coats, eye-popping bodywarmers and prairie-on-acid chemise dresses.
Not to mention, The North Face x Gucci Collection is in line with the commitments of both the two brands’ eco-sustainable activities, with luggage containing ECONYL®— a nylon fabric sourced from regenerated materials (from fish nets, carpets and other scraps) that can be recycled and recreated, aiding in decreasing its ecological footprint. All paper and cardboard used in the packaging comes from sustainably managed forest sources and an uncoated paper has been used to ensure it is fully recyclable.
The collection will be sold in UK exclusively at London Selfridges (throughout the month of January, from the 4th until the 30th)
