Break-ups have a way of consuming our thoughts and lives long after the last word has been exchanged. But it doesn’t always have to have a negative impact on our lives. Memories were made, and we’re never really the same after. And this exact phenomenon is the inspiration behind “Tidal Wave”, the latest track from London-based rising star GARRETT PAKNIS.

A scorching techno-bolstered hit, PAKNIS’ unique vocals wash over the listener, with the lo-fi industrial production simmering throughout. The artist has been dominating the European electronic music scene with his signature “moaning poetry”, emanating a body-moving vibrancy with his house-infused dance music. And the visuals are a trippy, kinetic exploration of dance and the way we move.

“I remember walking down the wet streets of Berlin, where I lived for two years, when the lyrics to this track popped in my head. I was at the final stages of healing from a broken heart and a relationship that changed my life… and I was reminiscing. I was remembering the beautiful times, and feeling the intensity of the love we shared wash over me… like a tidal wave. It was bittersweet – feeling this longing and passion, but also knowing we could and would never go back… it helped close the door, and I was able to make peace and say goodbye.”
