December is next week? Alexa, play Christmas playlist and add Brocarde’s new single “Waiting For January”. Yes, the burgeoning rock star has dropped a festive single today, but with a twist. Straying away from the typical happy feel-good melodies, the singer’s new single does the opposite and instead reflects on the harsh realities of the times. Laced with haunting vocals and eerie piano chords, the singer counterbalances the tune with light-hearted choruses and bridges, signifying that uplifting times are soon to come.

Speaking on the single, the singer said, “I started out writing an anthem for those who find Christmas difficult and challenging, but as soon as we went into the second lockdown, I realised that there was a universal topic that was far bigger than my personal feelings. Instead of having an “I hate people, I’m a misfit and I want to be left alone mentality”, I found myself longing and hoping for a “normal” Christmas surrounded by friends and family. I was thinking of those who are truly isolated and alone and I starting wondering how a COVID Christmas is going to affect us all.”

Following up from the recent release of her spooky Halloween single “Twisted” and her EP earlier this year, the classically trained singer has been steadily at work over lockdown and we’re curious to see what else she’ll bring to the table in 2021.
