Shonda Rhimes is making her Netflix debut? This what 2020 needed. Best know for cult TV shows Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder, Rhimes’ new series, Bridgerton, is giving us serious Gossip Girl vibes with a period drama twist. Based on Julia Quinn’s best selling novels of the same name, the series will follow the competitive world of Regency London high society. Revolving around the elusive Lady Whistledown voiced by Julie Andrews, the romance drama stars various newcomers such as Phoebe Dynevor, Rege-Jean Page, Adjoa Andoh, Ruby Barker, Jonathan Bailey and Golda Rosheuvel.

The romantic and scandalous series follows Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of a powerful family as she ventures into the highly competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parents’ footsteps of finding true love, Daphne’s efforts are rattled when the number of potential suitors begins to dwindle. Set to be filled with drama, gossip and ground-breaking secrets, Rhimes’ latest series is set to drop Christmas Day and it’s looking to be a present we never knew we need.
