It’s rare to hear such an outpour of soul and uninhibited vulnerability coming from the mouth of a 21-year-old, but LEEPA is proving time and time again that she has a cadence well above her years.
And “Fiction” is the latest sonic offering from the German rising star – whose blend of indie-pop and neo-soul has been making waves since her introduction into the industry. About the inevitable end of something, or a transition, or an imaginary presence, the track ripples with the artist’s hypnotic vocals. And the music video is a sensual visual offering, to play and replay.
Born in 1999 at Lake Starnberg and transported into narrow Berlin backyards at just the age of 10, this amalgamation of environments is evident in her textured lyricism.
“After my ‘DIY-Tracks’ from my first release ‘FREE LEEPA’ EP, I now pay a lot more attention to the vocals in my productions to make sure that they have enough room to breathe,” explains LEEPA. “On the other hand I want to counteract sad lyrics with light sounds or colourful videos – it brings hope. I want to comfort people, because I know what it’s like when you need help and nobody is there.”
