Having received critical acclaim for her impressive EP’s “The Heart”, “The Body” and “The Soul”, rising star Starling is back with the first single off her upcoming debut album To Be Alive. Setting the tone for the album, “No Leader” takes us through a glittering production laced with adventures, melodies and stellar vocals. Starling’s distinctive strong vocals capture your attention immediately, propelling you into an alt-pop soundscape with oscillating bass lines and pounding drums.
Speaking on the single, Starling said, “I had taken ayahuasca in the forest and it taught me that in all the time I had been looking to others for answers I should have been looking to myself. In a constant quest to find myself, to understand the meaning, life and my purpose I tried every therapy, meditation, and immersion possible and in this started to realise, I was the one I was looking for. Every type of spiritual excursion was had from vipassana to trauma therapy to kundalini and it guided me to me. This is the truth. When no one is here to guide us, or what we are told doesn’t resonate, we must guide ourselves… and be our own leader.”
Gearing up to release her debut album To Be Alive, the singer teased that the record will be a “powerful alt-pop record about owning both the light and darkness in our lives.” With no album release date set, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news about the album.
