Her pop-folk tune “Honey” had us basking in sombre piano melodies and harmonious vocals, and now Scottish artist Emma Miller returns with another introspective track titled “Sail Away”. Playing with soft electronica and shimmering productions, Miller’s delicate new single debuts powerful lyricism and merges it with a soundscape filled with subtle percussion and building synths.
Finding inspiration from a tumultuous year, Miller explains the song was written from a different perspective, rather than her own, “I wanted to write the song from the perspective of what a friend might say to me, rather than the critical inner voice we can slip into when we’re feeling particularly inadequate. I hope when people listen, they’ll be comforted in the knowledge that they’re doing just fine and no matter where you are in life, it’s ok to take the road less travelled.”
Taking a noticeable step back over the past few years, the singer has been supporting her peers in finding their own musical projects as well as building up her own portfolio of new music. But now ready to re-enter the scene, the singer announced that her debut EP will be released this November – watch this space.
