No one could have foreseen that most of us would spend 2020 within the confines of our four walls than outside. It’s been a tumultuous and unexpected time, putting our relationships and resources to the ultimate test. And for one artist, this experience has gone under the lens, in simmering, meditative new track “Slow Down” – from San Francisco-hailed rising star Lyrah.

If you’re suddenly overcome with involuntary sniffles, you can put it straight down to the sad-bop sensibilities of this absolute dreamy banger. Focusing on the universal experience of losing time, despite the world slowing down to a standstill, “Slow Down” springs into life with minimal, melancholic piano chords before Lyrah’s haunting vocals flutter upon the melody, and her irresistible lyrical prowess has you firmly in your feels.

“I wrote this song over Zoom with my best friend,” explains Lyrah. “This was two months into the pandemic. And white we were reminded of how precious life was, it felt like we had no control over it. This song is what came out of that conversation and the chorus captured it best – ‘maybe I should really know by now, how to make the world slow down’.”
